The contribution of Dana Chintamani Attimabbe is noteworthy in the history of literature and culture in Karnataka. Thousands of books relating to Jainism were written during her period which was the most unique contribution to the world. This award was started in the name of Attimabbe in the year 1995, exclusively for Women poets and scholars to recognize their contribution in the field of literature. This award which includes a plaque, shawl, garland and cash reward of Rs. 5 lakhs were started in the year 1995 by the Government of Karnataka
